Story: Robert Lenhart (Lukas) is facing financial problems in his publishing business. He tries to cut back on money in his personal life, which upsets his gold digging, social climbing wife, Eve (Vinson). She takes off, leaving their son, Bill, behind as well. His assistant, Maxine Bennett (Evans), helps to take care of Bill and naturally Robert and Maxine begin to see each other in a new way outside of “boss/secretary”.

But when she kills a man, she needs his help.

When Tommy Boy loses a race he was supposed to win, Rid ends up in debt with some dangerous gangsters, so he transfers ownership of Tommy to his lady friend, Ruby (Evans).
